Thad Ford

Thad is the bass player in the sextet. He comes from a very musical family and has been playing instruments since he was five. His first ‘proper’ instrument was the violin, which he soon traded for the cello. After a few years he migrated to the brass family in favour of the trombone, and this quickly became his staple instrument. At the same time he started playing bass and in it found the instrument that suited him best. Since then Thad has versed himself in as many styles as he can from traditional walking bass-lines, right through to funky slap solos! You can regularly see him playing his Status Graphite Classic S2 5 string and Yamaha Nathan East Signature Jazz 5 string basses. Thad’s backline is a Trace Elliot GP12SMX stereo head running through Trace Elliot cabs.
